LEE Woon Shiu

Lee Woon Shiu is Managing Director and Regional Head of Wealth Planning Family Office and Insurance Solutions at DBS Bank. Previously, he was Managing Director and Head of Wealth Planning Trust & Insurance with Bank of Singapore and its predecessor ING Asia Private Bank for close to 15 years since 2004. He started his banking career with Merrill Lynch in 2000 after working as a cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Markets lawyer in Freshfields Drew & Napier and Coudert Brothers.


Woon Shiu has had a successful track record of leading and transforming wealth planning teams in delivering innovative estate & succession planning and insurance solutions to high net worth families globally for over two decades, with specific expertise in driving significant growth and building award-wining and sustainable wealth planning and life insurance businesses across developed, emerging as well as nascent markets in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, winning accolades for Best Bank of Wealth Transfer/Succession Planning and Family Offices along the way. Woon Shiu has also been cited as a Top Gun in family offices advising billionaires in recognition of his expertise in advising multi-generations of ultra-high networth families in the region on the establishment and implementation of their family governance and philanthropy strategies.


He is concurrently serving as Board Member of DBS Trustee Limited and DBS Foundation, where he spearheads the efforts in driving venture philanthropy strategies among high networth and affluent segments at DBS Bank, and also as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nanyang Technological University's Wealth Management Institute where he lectures private bankers, lawyers as well as trust and insurance practitioners and also served as an expert panel member for Wealth Planning & Family Offices. In recognition of his efforts and contribution, Woon Shiu was awarded the Most Innovative Teaching Award by the Nanyang Technological University. He has also lectured at universities in China. His views as a leader in the field of family offices wealth structuring and life insurance solutions are regularly featured in international media and at global and regional conferences where he is a frequent speaker.


Woon Shiu graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) 2nd Upper Division from the National University of Singapore, where he was a Law Society of Singapore Book Prize Winner. He is an Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore, a Solicitor of England & Wales, and an accredited Trust & Estate Practitioner.
