2024 HURAY GOLD MEDAL FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY


Background of award

HURAY GOLD MEDAL FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY is an award given to the graduating NBS student who has demonstrated outstanding social responsibility by contributing towards the social and/or environmental needs of the local or international community during his or her period of candidature at the School.

Mr Anthony Huray, the donor of the Huray Gold Medal and Cash Award for Social Responsibility, is an Imperial College alumnus and a successful businessman in areas of engineering, commodity trading, technology and business management. But above all, Mr Anthony Huray is very passionate about helping the social community. This endowment is thus befitting of his personal passion, and his especial way of encouraging students at Nanyang Business School to excel not only in academic studies but also in contributing to the community for worthy causes, creating awareness of the environment and in realizing the knowledge, joy and satisfaction of such selfless contribution.

The award will be given out each year to the most deserving candidate at the annual Convocation Ceremony.


Award Eligibility

1. Graduating students in their final semester
2. Given unselfishly of themselves and their time to a socially responsible cause and who have made an impact on the lives of others in any segment of the local or international community. Examples of such causes include social aid and welfare programmes; environmental programmes and initiatives; and any other initiative or programme that may be regarded as being for the betterment of society as a whole or of any segment of the community.

 

Nomination Procedures

1. Online nominations for the award must be made by two persons, either two students, staff or faculty members, i.e, Two nominators are to submit only one online nomination form
2. Seek consent and agreement from your nominee before nomination.
3.

The Nominee will have to submit a write-up of no more than 500 words using the template, to include:

    - Details of activities undertaken in relation to the socially responsible cause(s)
    - Your reasons for pursuing the cause(s)
    - How had your actions benefited society
    - Any other relevant materials (e.g. organization’s newsletters, news clippings, videos, testimonials) to support your nomination.

4. Both Nominators will each upload their justification of no more than 100 words to justify why the nominee is deserving of the award, with their signature affixed in the respective justification.
5. Shortlisted candidates may be requested to attend a short interview to elaborate on their write-up so that the award committee can have a clearer picture of their contributions. The committee will comprise of faculty members from NBS, alumni and student representatives. One award will be given out each year to the most deserving candidate. The award winner will be recognized at the annual Convocation Ceremony in July/August 2024.

 

The closing date for nominations is on 30 April 2024, at 23:59 hours.
