When Kellogg gave me the chance to go abroad for one quarter, Singapore seemed the perfect place. In hindsight, I know now how valuable that experience proved to be. I truly believe that my experience in Singapore was highly valuable for my development, not only as an MBA student, but also as a person and as a citizen of the world.

Being from Europe, with a sparse knowledge of the Southeast Asian economies, my quarter in Singapore proved remarkably interesting. The country is almost like an oasis in the middle of all other Asian countries, very developed, with a vivid, growing economy and first world infrastructures.

In addition, the academic experience at Nanyang will totally change the way you see and live your experience. The professors were very insightful and I learned from them cultural views and experiences that I could not have learned elsewhere.

From the challenges of investing in China to an overview of the Healthcare industry, I obtained a solid breadth of knowledge about the region in several industries. Among others, I was able to enroll in Professor McGovern’s Global Business Environment class, where I had the chance to better understand the ASEAN economies, their challenges and how to evaluate and do business there. Professor McGovern showed a tremendous background in understanding the key economical and political issues that each country is facing and what those represent for a company doing business there.

Now, when you add all of this and you factor the real chance of taking those unique insights from class and living them while travelling to each of those surrounding countries, in an affordable and timely manner, it is undoubtedly, a unique experience.
