To any MBA considering an exchange term at Nanyang Business School, I strongly encourage you to take the leap. Before speaking to the high quality content and experience I had there, I will first share a bit about the excellent application process and terms. As may be the case for you, my home business school had very limited exchange university partnerships, and none in Asia. So I was overjoyed to discover Nanyang's staff extremely receptive of my joining for an exchange, despite the lack of a formal agreement between our business schools. I reached out to about a dozen top programs around Asia and found Nanyang the most friendly, efficient, and supportive. Whereas many other programs didn't even bother to reply to me, or did, but immediately made me feel that I would be a "second class" student, I was instead given a warm welcome by NBS' team. They were flexible and accommodating and responsive to my queries. When a conflict arose between one of their policies and a constraint rooted in my home university's differing academic calendar, they were able to work with me to ensure I could still attend. Lesson: NBS staff are outstanding.

Now, to my actual experience while here. My professors were all deeply knowledgeable and strong communicators. I took away new perspectives on business and the world in general. In some classes the content was the same material as could be learned anywhere, but to be learning from former country managers, former central bankers, and internationally acclaimed academics brought the learning to a new level. Moreover, simply being in this bustling region of the world is infectious and it's hard not to gain new knowledge when it saturates your existence. I was pleased to find my classmates bright but down to earth, with a good sense of humor and interested to learn, have fun, and work hard together. Exchange students, full-time, and part-timers mixed and played well together, coming from diverse industries, countries, etc. -- it is a thoroughly enriching environment. So... Get off the fence and apply!
