EGADE Business School (ITESM)
Trimester 1 (2012/2013)

My exchange trimester at NBS was special for 2 main reasons; it was my first study abroad experience and the last trimester of my MBA program.

I met very interesting people during the exchange programme. The first group of people I met was exchange students from Italy, France, India, Germany, Canada, China, Indonesia, etc. This diversity also exists among the second group of students, i.e. the full and part-time MBAs. It made the class interesting as students shared their experiences from their own perspectives and countries. I took 3 full and 2 half courses; most of my courses were in entrepreneurship and technology. NBS has great professors for technology courses.

The school has a great campus and amazing sports and learning facilities. I was able to play soccer and in the process expanded my network of friends. The Business Library was amazing as it has a wide range of business books and material, and is the best place for studying. NBS organizes many events that help MBAs to develop other skills, e.g., I attended workshops on networking, job interviews, media, and business, among others.

Singapore is a great country to be in. Asia is the region with the fastest economic growth in the world, and Singapore is the hub for all the trade between Asia and other continents. I was impressed with the huge cultural diversity, the order and cleanliness of the city, and the use of high-end technology in its services. I visited places like museums, parks and the infinity pool located at the top of Marina Bay Sands. I also attended the National Day parade, the Singtel F1 Grand Prix and the National Day celebration of Mexico. I had the opportunity to share some of the main cultural aspects of my country with my classmates when I cooked Mexican food for them.

My visit to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines helped me understand the South East Asian cultures and traditions better.

What I treasured most out of my exchange experience is the friendship forged with my classmates, professors and staff. I would always remember them and definitely recommend the exchange program at NBS to anyone who wants to gain international exposure.
