Kooi Wah has over 20 years of experience in the areas of accounting, financial reporting and auditing.

Kooi Wah graduated from University of Malaya in 1992 and started her career in Malaysia with Arthur Andersen and continued with Ernst & Young when the two firms merged. In her 17 years with the public accounting firm, she had extensive experience in providing audit, assurance and business advisory services with particular focus on clients in the banking and insurance industry. Her notable assignments include merger and acquisition transactional due diligence, valuation, profit forecast and projection, cross-border transactions and review of risk-based audit methodology. Besides client service, Kooi Wah was also responsible for the training and recruitment function of the firm whereby she served as a member of the firm's professional standards group and had played a key role in the implementation and enhancement of audit tools and methodology.

Kooi Wah started lecturing at Nanyang Business School in 2010 after relocating to Singapore from Malaysia. Prior to her involvement in academia, she had conducted various training seminars for universities, the Malaysian central bank, the Malaysian insurance institute, in-house training for companies as well as public seminars.

At the professional level, she had participated in the adjudication of the Malaysian National Annual Corporate Report Awards and had served as a member of Malaysian Accounting Standards Board Working Group for Exposure Drafts on Insurance Contracts. She had also acted as facilitator for MICPA Examination Workshop and assisted in the review of Audit Manual for Practitioners.
